PRODUCTS AND MATERIALS

What products and materials are available
Glass, wood, laserable plastics, acrylic, stainless steel, anodised aluminium, granite, marble, ceramic tiles, etc. We have a large selection of products and materials available.

How durable is a laser etched piece?
Depending on the material and the application an etched image can last forever. We recommend you specify your intended end use so that we may advise in the selection of the optimum medium for your etching.

How do I care for my etching?
The laser etching process is permanent. Use a mild, non-abrasive detergent and warm water will clean any dust, dirt or fingerprints. When cleaning acrylic etchings we strongly recommend that you use only a soft, damp cloth with a mild glass cleaner. Glass ware may be cleaned in the dishwasher.

What do I need to provide in order to have something laser etched?
Artwork supplied should be a vector image, eg. .eps format.
The best results are achieved when the image or photo submitted is clear and crisp and is neither too dark or too light.
Scanned images: If you have a photograph we recommend that it be scanned at 300 dpi (or more). Digital Camera images: HQ images (1000x1000 or higher) or around 500 KB file size. For larger etchings or murals digital images should be closer to 800 KB file size or more.

What sizes are available?
Our plate size is 600mm x 450mm.

The depth of an item to be etched can be up to 270mm

Our rotary attachment for doing round objects, allows you to etch around the entire object in a wrap around or spiral pattern.

We can make recommendations on the appropriate size according to the final layout which best suits the artwork.

A full 600mm x 450mm can be etched in one session. A large mural can be etched in several sections to create a single image over many square metres. The impact of such a mural is tremendous.

How many words can I have etched?
As many as you choose and any size you want. The process is such that the laser does not actually know if it is etching part of a word or part of an image. The only thing to keep in mind for letter size would be if the words are meant to be read from arms length or up very close.

Custom Laser Etching
Custom laser etching for your Laptop, Mobile Phone, iPod, Chefs knives, etc., the process is done at low power and can not damage your item. The process is quick, clean, and permanent.

Hardwoods like walnut, oak, mahogany and maple produce good results.

Finished leathers can be laser etched with a look similar to hot-branding.

Standard cast acrylic and other cast resins generally laser very well. A commonly engraved award is a cast acrylic shape designed to be lasered from the back side.

For signage and faceplates, etc., special laser engraving plastics were developed. These incorporate silcate or other materials which conduct excess heat away from the material before it can deform.

Custom Laser Cutting
The laser can cut to a depth of 10mm depending on material.
The materials can be cut to specified shapes and sizes from a circle to the most intricate designs.
